Having a blog is great but why just blog when you can earn from it however it may seem having a self hosted blog cost money and unless you can afford to pay your hosting fees from your pocket then i think monetizing your blog should be a priority the way to do this is a choice of yours. Some believe that you should build an online reputation before monetizing well we can agree or disagree with this but whichever way you choose you need to have a plan there is an old saying “If you fail to plan you plan to fail” so always have on and make sure it is one that is workable and you need to review it .

(2) Although your blog is powered by some custom built script like WordPress that is no excuse not to learn the basic html and Css this will help you to customize your blog and also you will be able to optimize your blog for search engines this doesn’t mean that you have to become an expert at html just the basic because using custom built Content Management System solves must of the programming problem as blog software are just like plug and play gadgets.
(3)You have the opportunity to Keyword-Optimize your blog this is good for Organic Search Traffic do some research and get the right keywords for your blog this when done right can prolong the life of your blog another brilliant idea is to syndicate your blog post getting your post out to your readers this can bring additional traffic to your website most blogging platform comes with Rss feeds built in getting your word out quickly and to the wider community and at the same time building a loyal readership base and remember to encourage feedbacks and comments and even suggestions.

As long as you review the product first and it offers value for money for your readers then it’s worth considering promoting it to bring in commissions from sales referred by you.
I must agree that there is a lot of ways through which you can monetize your blogs, but before you got carried away by all those making money ideas you need to be an expert in the field on what you blog about, otherwise you are just not going to get the people coming to read your blog posts and also you cannot really make up an article that is interesting enough to attract more visitors. More visitors you get more money you can make. But blogging just with money in your mind is just not the right way to go about it in my opinion.

Great post, I agree and quite honestly need to get better at number two. Although I know some html I am not saavy enough for my liking.
Niche blogs seem to be best for me as far as monetization you give the reader everything they want an offer options to purchase what they want. Not blogging (no pun intended) them down with aff. offers just what they were searching for in the first place.

Very good post with informative advice. I think anyone who has a blog can monetize it. If nothing else, you can earn a few bucks from Adsense, Amazon, etc. If you can drive some traffic to your blog and use the proper keywords, you can earn some money. Of course it does take some experimenting with ad placement and various ad networks to see what works best.

Money making through blogs or sites is one of the hardest thing on the web. I don’t know about others but I have given up this idea now 🙁 bty, I like what you have said in this post. I think these points are more in relation with the traffic building. By following these points, we can always expect better and much needed traffic. But we can’t say exactly if it is going to earn me a money or not. To make it happen in reality, we have to work out on choosing better ads and get them placed properly on our sites or blogs and lastly, we have to keep hoping for the clicks without which everything goes in vain. In other words, getting more and more traffic should always be the first priority and then the rest.
Some people find CSS, and php all to hard, but do not despair as there are themes out there that are very customizable without having that knowledge.
While you can make money blogging, don’t expect it to come rushing in all at once. It is a slow and difficult process. Many give up before seeing anything. It is a good idea to love blogging first, the rest in time will follow later.
